Uganda Trip - Day 10

This morning was another example of our schedule being set in Jello.  The men did end up going to the home office for the morning devotional time with the men workers from AMG Uganda, but the women stayed at the hotel until 11:45.  It rained so hard last night that I could hear the water hitting the roof over the recording of the Peruvian stones from the Pacific Ocean that I play each night as I sleep.  The rain was loud and long.  Because of that the ladies could not go on home visits – way too muddy to drive or walk on the back roads.
Dean, Karen, Aly, Reuben and myself met around 9 to discuss Aly’s involvement at AMG Uganda next year.  It was a wonderful conversation and we got much accomplished, I just pray that as I bring home Reuben’s suggestions for the future they are well received by the staff at home.

After our short meeting, Dean and I joined the rest of the men at the office and finished the morning going over a “purpose statement” for the church of Uganda with the men there.  We had a very lively discussion and the men on both sides of the table had a lot of good things to say.  It was a very encouraging time for all of the people involved.

After the meeting we joined the ladies for lunch with Reuben, his wife, and 3 of his 4 daughters.  Reuben is leaving for USA tonight, so this was our last opportunity to spend with him.  We have a few more days, but we will have to make it without Reuben.  We had a wonderful lunch, and a great time of fellowship.  Reuben is a very interesting man, and the ministry that he and his family have here in Uganda is incredible.  God is using them to reshape the future of Uganda.  It is to this end that we continue to pray for his success.
Lunch ended, Reuben’s family hopped in a car heading home to pack, and he jumped on a Boda-Boda (the local motorcycle transportation).  With a grin he was off, and we jumped on the bus heading back to the office.

The afternoon plan was to do a “program” for the AMG Uganda staff.  Singing, a word from the Bible, praying, and  fellowship together.  Pastor Curtis brought a challenge from God’s word, and together we prayed for the many issues that people in the room were dealing with.  It was a refreshing time of encouragement and fellowship.

We headed back to the hotel for an evening of cards (Mao) and relaxing in preparation for tomorrow.  We are heading to Igamba, and are not sure what kind of situations we will find when we get there.  Our morning will begin with a visit to KCC – the school where we missed the kids on Tuesday, and some of our team are going to Namagoga for home visits.  It will be a long day, but I think the team is ready for it…
